NVC and The 12 Steps

In 2000, I walked into my first Alanon meeting. I've often said it saved my life. The 12 steps of AA, originated by co-founders Bill Wilson and Doctor Bob, serves families and friends of alcoholics affected by the disease of alcoholism. Just one word was changed in the 12 steps to be applicable in the rooms of Alanon.

Although each step has a mystery to it's own, it was the 4th step work that opened my eyes. I've found through my work in Nonviolent Communication, my 4th step work has deepened and it is with this experience I share the spiritual process of both Alanon and NVC.

This workshop is for anyone wanting to deepen their spiritual awareness through the lens of the 4th Step of The 12 Steps and the practices and processes of Nonviolent Communication. It's an experiential workshop where through community more of the inner journey is revealed. Our learning will focus on three practices in NVC and how each deepen our 4th step work. They are:

  • The Practice of Self Connection; What is it? Why is it important in my 12 Step work?
  • The Practice of Listening Empathetically to ourselves and to others: How does it work?
  • The Practice of Expressing Honestly with Compassion: How learning this skill is beneficial to our 6, 7, 8, and 9th steps.

If you, like me, believe there's always more to learn, please join me and others for this workshop, NVC and The 12 Steps.

I look forward to being in these rooms with you!
